The Honorable Joanna S. Kishner is a Judge in Department XXXI of the Eighth Judicial District Court of Nevada, first elected to the bench in 2010 with broad community support. A Southern Nevada native, she currently presides over complex Business Court and Construction Defect matters, as well as general civil litigation and select criminal cases. She earned her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Claremont McKenna College and her Juris Doctor from UCLA School of Law, where she served as Managing Editor of the Federal Communications Law Journal and completed a federal judicial externship.
Before becoming a judge, she built a distinguished 20+ year legal career working with top firms and organizations including Paul Hastings, Warner Bros., and DLA Piper, while also serving in multiple judicial and arbitration roles. Judge Kishner is deeply committed to public service and access to justice, serving on numerous state and district committees and boards, and is a past President of the Nevada District Judges Association. She is also a graduate of the FBI Citizen’s Academy and a recipient of the Justice Nancy Becker Pro Bono Award for Judicial Excellence.
